if you have an amp, set the gain on the amp to the sub while the sub control on your HU is set at Zero. works the best that way, imo

put the HPF on your HU at about 100hz/12db slope. and the sub at 80hz or lower and i would recommend 18db slope, but you could set it to 12db slope if you prefer that better:-)

Gain on the sub? How do i set that sub doesnt have anything to set. Or do you mean the stuff on the amp. Is it alright to boost all the Base and Treble on the amp and then on the HU and increase th DB with the given amp? Would that just over do it? 1200 watt amp with 2 500 watt rms subs. 12inch

when you are setting the gain on the amp(the one that powers the subwoofer) do it while your subwoofer level is on Zero on your HU if your HU has a sub level feature. it isn't recommended to set it and turn it up past zero, b/c i think it adds bass boost to the sub which can distort it.

i wouldn't boost all the bass and treble on your amp and then again on your HU, you might drive the amp into clipping, and it may distort your subs eventually blowing them.
