I'm thinking about putting in 2 Soundsplitter 12" RL-p subs in a ported enclosure. They are RMS rated at 500watts but their site says they'll handle anything from 300-1200 watts. I've heard from member mikechec9 giving them around 750-800 a piece would work pretty well.

That being said, I'd like to know what you guys can recommend in terms of amplifiers in that range. I would much prefer not to have to install an additional battery but a cap would not be out of the question. I'd like to not to lose an arm and a leg on a super-high-end amp, but am not opposed to spending a little extra for quality and durability.

Another question, would 4 gauge wire be sufficient to power these? Could I even get away with 8 gauge?

Oh, one more question, would it be a better idea/cheaper to run from 2 800w amps?
