on this site it says the trantrum 1200.1 at 12.5V "at 4 ohms" gives out 250 watts. wow thats a rapid decline from what it puts out at 14.4V. This question is probably obvious for many of you but... what would i need to keep giving it a 14.4V supply. a cap a what?

when your car is running it theoretically should be putting out 14.4V already. i doubt they will with only 250W, but if your lights dim, i'd suggest getting a HO alternator to keep yer car up at 14.4.

the alternator puts out 13.8 to 14.4VDC above idle.
batteries put out 12.5VDC.. as does the alternator at idle.

that amp has an unregulated power supply so it's power output depends on the voltage input.

you don't.
batteries put out 12.5 volts. that is what you get with the car off unless you use an external power supply and plug the car into a 110VAC wall outlet for power.
