robert r d r d Unregistered guest | depends if u got 2 ohm or 4 ohm if u got the 4 ohm u can drop them down to 1 ohm if so get this http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-BX1205D-BRUTUS-CLASS-D-MONO-AMP-NEW-05-BX1000D_W0QQ itemZ5803160817QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem if u got them 2 ohm u can drop only to 2 ohm if so get this http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-BRUTUS-BX1605D-MONO-BLOCK-CLASS-D1600W_W0QQitemZ580 2195955QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem they say hifonics is a little over rated so they should do u good also u can look into mb quart and such but they start at like 290$ |
New member Username: Biggyg9712Post Number: 4 Registered: Sep-05 | will the hifonics get the job done, ive never heard of that brand and im wondering if anyone has a hifonics and if it works good |

Silver Member Username: James_gTN Post Number: 151 Registered: Jul-05 | If you want cheap power, then Hifonics is okay. They are not the same company they were 10-12 years ago. What is your budget? |
New member Username: Biggyg9712Post Number: 5 Registered: Sep-05 | somewhere around 200-300, 300 is fine |
Silver Member Username: James_gTN Post Number: 152 Registered: Jul-05 | I think you can get the Hifonics BX1500D for well below $300 on eBay. According to some posts here regarding bench tests, it does about 1000w RMS. For a little more cash, you could move up a notch and get the Orion 1200D or the Kicker KX1200.1 among others. |
New member Username: Biggyg9712Post Number: 6 Registered: Sep-05 | would it be worth it to spend 100 more dollars on the orion 1200d, instead of buying the hifonice BX1500D |
New member Username: Biggyg9712Post Number: 9 Registered: Sep-05 | its not 100, its only 70 dollars more, so is it worth it? |
Silver Member Username: James_gTN Post Number: 153 Registered: Jul-05 | Yes, I think it is well worth it. You do have DVC 4 ohm subs, correct? That's an important factor for these amps because they require a 1 ohm load to get the best output. |
New member Username: Biggyg9712Post Number: 10 Registered: Sep-05 | ya i have the DVC 4 ohm subs and do u guys think i would need a capacitor or alternator for this setup? |
Silver Member Username: James_gTN Post Number: 155 Registered: Jul-05 | It depends. You could wait until you have it installed and see if your alt. will keep up. That Orion 1200D has the potential to draw more than 120 amperes when you crank it up. Do you know what size your stock alt. is? Caps can help, but they will not solve voltage problems if your alt. is too small. |
