Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 350 Registered: May-05 | They are 175 watts RMS apeice, it will be going in a sealed box. I could get an Audiobahn 200X2 amplifier for $150. Is there anything better out there that puts out 400-500wrms at 4 ohms for around that price? (Mainly looking at ebay) |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 351 Registered: May-05 | Or it COULD be run at 1 ohms if necessary. |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 353 Registered: May-05 | what about a HIFONICS ZX1000 2-Channel Power Amplifier |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 354 Registered: May-05 | bump. Looking at Kicker, MTX, Orion, Hifonics, JBL, MB Quart. WIlling to go up to $200 on ebay for it. Looking at 175X2 at 2 ohms (up to 250 or even 300X2) or 350-500 @ 4 ohms mono. It will be for 2 Re12's |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 355 Registered: May-05 | What about a Kicker 225X2 at 2 ohms? That would work perfectly... How good is that amp? |
Silver Member Username: CnafetsPost Number: 153 Registered: Aug-05 | Yeah kicker makes pretty good amps. Don't forget about rf. |
ICEEMAN Unregistered guest | Get a Zapco Reference 500.1 and power them at 4 ohms. That would power then very nicely. I decided to try that out and it was amazing. Hope i helped. You would have to fork out prob 350 for it, but it is well worth it. Trust me!!! |
Silver Member Username: CnafetsPost Number: 157 Registered: Aug-05 | He wants a quality budget system man. 350 is a little much you think? I know it's zapco and all, but I don't think he wants to pay that much. |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 356 Registered: May-05 | Ok, I will look into the RF... But should that kicker power those subs pretty good? |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 357 Registered: May-05 | I found 3 amps that would almost perfectly suit my needs... Here they are (the lower the price the better). These will be run off an 80 amp alternator also, BTW. Rockford Fosgate- http://www.crutchfield.com/S-aynjSO3a25E/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&id=essential _info&i=575P4002#Tab Kicker-http://www.kicker.com/05/05kicker.html (450.2) PPI- http://www.precisionpower.com/amps/dcx500-2.asp Those are what I came up with. Out of those (if money was kind of an issue) which would you go with? Will you notice major differences between them? Thanks! |
Silver Member Username: QuickshotCharlotte, North Carolina U.S. Post Number: 194 Registered: Aug-05 | i wouldnt even go with the RF if i was you i think thats their 04 line and if it is its overrated...the Kicker would probably be the best choice since money is an issue because those amps are reliable and slightly underrated |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 358 Registered: May-05 | I think I could trust kicker. Anyway, would that system sound really nice? The Kicker and 2 RE12's in a sealed box? |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Maryland U.S.A. Post Number: 2072 Registered: Feb-05 | kicker kx600.1 and and 2 RE12's ported / Nice thumping system right there. |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 360 Registered: May-05 | what would be the main difference between a 600.1 and a 450.2? |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 361 Registered: May-05 | And would 8 gauge wiring for it be alright? That is all I have. I think the 450.2 says that it has 4 gauge terminals... but would 8 gauge work? Thanks |

Post Number: 2075 Registered: Feb-05 | 600.1 one is a mono block class D amplifier and is more efficiant and draw less power while giving your subs the power it needs. Less stress to your electrical system in your car. The 450.2 is 2 channels to drive to speakers or subs. The 600.1 is designed for subs only and can run 2 subs easily. I does 600-700 at 2 ohm and like 300-400 at 4 ohm. If your 2 subs are dual 2 ohm then you will get the maximum 600 x 1 @ 2 ohm load and if you wire your subs in parrallel. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Maryland U.S.A. Post Number: 2076 Registered: Feb-05 | Or you could run a single sub thats dual 4 ohm and wire it down in parralel to get a 2 ohm load to match the impedence of your amp and that way you will get the 600-700 rms x 1 @ 2 ohm |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 362 Registered: May-05 | well the RE12's are dual 4 ohm so there goes that. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Maryland U.S.A. Post Number: 2078 Registered: Feb-05 | You will need a amplifier that can do about 400-500 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm stable if you wanna go with 2 RE 12's. Look into the JL 500/1 or a CrossFire VR600D or any good amp thats stable at 1 ohm. |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Maryland U.S.A. Post Number: 2079 Registered: Feb-05 | You could even look for a 2 channel amp that puts out 400 x 1 @ 4 ohms bridged |
Silver Member Username: Iufan4lifeulLouisville, Kentucky Post Number: 364 Registered: May-05 | the kicker is 450 X 1 @ 4 ohms bridged |
Gold Member Username: Suleman36Maryland U.S.A. Post Number: 2080 Registered: Feb-05 | thats perfect..itll give the RE 12's 225 a piece and hit really clean since its a class a/b amp. Just use that amp chris. It will work great. |
