roughly close to twice the volume.. you're talking twice the speakers and twice the total power

what about running 1 sub at max rms or running 2 subs to split the watts between the two?
which would sound better?

I prefer running one sub to max rms over splitting. Saves space, money, and it sounds the same.

one sub with 300 watts or two subs with 150 watts each, the two subs will be +3dB louder

so 2 typeR's will hit harder than a typeX. But if i buy a 1ohm mono amp could i put both positive wires in the positive terminal and the 2 negitives in the negitive terminal and drop the 2 R's to 2 ohms will it drop both subs to 1 ohm and both will play ?

two type R subs will be louder.
the type X is a SQ sub not an SPL sub.

note the type R comes in both dual 2 and dual 4 ohm models to match to your choice of amplifier

not to mention a type X is made for a sealed box and type Rs are better off ported, so there's another +6dB over the type X.
