generally I try to avoid the use of an EQ unless you feel it's really needed for whatever reason.
the more you tinker with the source signal, the more impure it sounds in the end.. introducing phase shifts, and changes to the source signal that end up destroying your imaging and soundstage in the process.
simpler is always better
