I'm gonna try a new thread.

What's the new "best bang for the buck 12" that runs on 300W Rms 4ohm or 500+w 2ohm. Looking at about $100-$125 max not including shipping or the box. Would like it to perform well in "small" sealed box.

Last time I was in the thick of this, it was the Vega Vmax. How are the new Alpine TypeR's or CompVR's?

I can attest to the V-Max's
i currently have 2 12" in my trunk and i think they're great subs for the budget
ppl can hear u coming if u want them to and they still sound great
plus...with 20.3mm one way xmax, its just plain cool to watch, :P, haha
all three subs u mentioned above are great. However, the V-Max's will be taking a little bit to much power. There RMS is 300. But they have 4ohm DVC's. Which would make it a 2ohm sub and be giving them 200 watts over RMS
i havent tried mine with that
but i'd assume they'd get hot
i'd look at the Type R
i think the new ones are 500 watts RMS

IDQ is primarily a SQ sub. But I agree, they are nice

IDQ is not primarily a SQ sub it can get rather loud if in the propper enclosure. All ID subs/cpmopnents have good SQ thats just good craftsmanship that is offered by their company. The IDQ can get loud. V-max is a great sub for the money, I personally am not a big fan of the type r's I dont think they sound that great but some people do.
