Amp Powers on and Powers off with the bass

Just got a 94 ford explorer has a stock amp that is hooked up. Spliced my sony head unit into the wires and the speakers sound great but when I tried splicing the amp remote wire that goes to the stock amp and my sub amp the light on the amp goes screwy. It turns green then when music plays it goes red then blank green red blank then red then blank. Its like there isnt enough power to handle it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

dont splice the remote wire from your stock amp take the blue remote leed wire out of the back of your sony head unit and run it to your sub amp.
