Sub Air Space

Does a sub require a certain amount of space to sound good and if it doesent have enough space can it blow the sub

yes it does need the certain amount of air space. Depending on the size of the sub and make of the sub. Usually on the manufaturer's website, or your manual if you have one...it gives the square feet of air space you need with dimensions. My 10" need 1.25 square feet of airspace in a ported box. Depending if you go ported or sealed.

About blowing subs if the box is too small...Im not sure. I read that if the box is too small you can add insulation and it will make the box seem 40% larger to the sub...I'm new to car audio and someone please correct me if i'm wrong about what i've posted. lol.

well its a 10" box cut to fit a 12" inch sub without insulation its not ported or sealed just a square box with a small incline no ports
