i have this sub http://www.jbl.com/car/products/pro...ser=GTS&cat=SUB, and when i turn it up loud thers a dodgy noise coming from the ported hole bit(cant really explain it). so i covered the ported hole with a towel and the noise went. but covering the hole makes the subwoofer move foward and back more if you know what i mean.

i just basically wanted to know would this damage the sub in anyway???

thanks ppl 4 any help & opinions

yeah i would say it is port noise, not much you can do about it with that box. best bet is to built a new box, with a rectangular vent. or alter that one.
