My car (Grand Cherokee) came with an Infinity system with 4 mids and 2 tweeters and a 6way amp.

I installed two Type-R's with an A8000T amp.

The thing is, the Infinity speakers get pretty loud at about 20 (on my Panansonic HU which goes to 40). At around 3/4 its too loud.

My question is, how am I suppost to set the gain right if im going to be listening to my music at 17-20 instead of the recomended 3/4 way up?

I left the bass boost all the way off on my amp and put the gain at about a tiny bit above 3/4.

It got pretty hot in about 10 minutes when I had the gain all the way up, so thats why I put it down some.

Does anyone know what I should do? Or how to set the gain right when my HU will not be putting out to the subs what it should be because of the other speakers?

does your amp have the volt rating on the gain? If it does just set it to what your preouts voltage. And if it doesnt just set it to about half, put HU on the volume you listen to (17-20) Then adjust the bass boost to the way you want it to sound.
