I originally had a PG tantrum 500.2 running the eclipse, but that burnt out so I'm replacing it with a tantrum 1200.1

I'll keep the gains low, and watch my use of bass boost. Would I be ok? I love the sound of the Alum and dont want to spend money replacing it. Eclipse says 500w rms and 1000w music power handling, so I should be ok?

Yeah, I have the 4ohm SVC version and it states 500w RMS, but I wont be sending a 40Hz signal continuously to it for competition or anything like that, just everyday usage.

What if I stick a 60amp fuse in there to make sure it doesnt blow. If the fuse keeps popping then I'll downgrade the amp or upgrade to a avalanche or something, but even that doesnt handle 1200w does it? a Brahma?

The amperage in the fuse has nothing to do with the speaker. The amp is gonna push how ever many watts it says it will, depending on how things are wired, and it's gonna pull the corrosponding amount of amps. I can tell you right now, if your running 1200 watts rms, it's gonna be a lot more than 60 amps.

Well if I keep the gain/volume/bass boost down, I wont be drawing the max amount of amps. So if I do put a 60amp fuse in there and it doesnt blow, then I should be ok? Wont that be ~650w at 75% efficiency? P=V*I. The Eclipse specs thats 1000w musical power handling, so I should go with that if I'm not sending a max power signal, just everyday peaks. The stock fuse is only 80amps by the way. If this makes so sense then I should just get a better power handling sub?
