one of the local audio shops has a Pheonix Gold Octane-R 2.5:2, is it any good... $189(canadian) would it be better then my current sub amp...its a 300watt max Power Acoustik gothis series 2 channel?(it starts to get pretty hot when played for longer periods of time...)
if neither of these amps are good could someone suggests any other amps that would be good for my sub? thanx in advance...
Your sub isn't that powerful at all. 250W rms is nothing in bass world. 60oz for a double stacked isn't much either. Anyhow, for the amp, dump both and look at JBL/MTX if you're on a budget. If not, look at PPI PC/PCX series/JL/Zapco/Orion/Xtant etc.
