Ok, my last system I had two 15" kicker cvr. they got loud and had ok spl, but the sq sucked. This time i wanted more sq, so i went with two 12" infinty perfects. this time the sq is good, but i'm craving more spl. so the million dollar question is...what sub provides both?

also...how do you solve distortion at low volumes, but not at high volumes?

Are you talking about electrical hummming?

i have the engine whine through my subs, which i was told is the ground wire. by distortion i mean the subs don't sound as solid, a little "sloppy" or "muddy".

jls have both.. but even amounts..

and my personal opinion .. rockfords can have a decent amount of both for a cheaper price.. just depends on what you want though.

If you want both, couple places you can check out. Image Dynamics IDMAXs, RE X.X.Xs, the W7s. Probably a ton more.

yeah the only thing that drives me away from the w7 is the price tag. then again i'm sure they all have price tags like the w7. i don't like cheap stuff.

Yup... if you want a mixture of both... the RE x.x.x,
the ID's
I'd go with the w6v2 for sq over the w7,
Eclipse TI's
Ascendant Audio's avalantch.

Do you think 1 of any of thsoe, probably the eclipse, would sound louder/better than 2 12" perfects with an Orion 250 Hcca?

Have you thought about going with 2 JL 12w3's? They have good sq, and great spl... I heard just 1 w3 with a Kicker 500 watt amp up to it... wich is way over powering the sub, but anyway... I was shocked at the sound of it! You can find w3's for $180 a Piece.

Well, you're going to be going from 2 subs down to 1 right? If you go ported... that should make up for the other sub... 2/3 DB's. I also think I remember someone saying that they do better in vented/ported boxes.

How will the sq hold up if I decide to go ported on it?
