Alrite, so today i took my car in cuz one of my rear speakers were distorted n since its under warranty still it'll be replaced but i asked him if he had anything louder...and he said my current speakers would be alot louder if i had a better HU...he said something about my rca outputs not being powerful enuff???...is this true?....this is my current setup for HU and speakers....

Panasonic CQ-C5310U Cd/MP3 Player

JBL GTO526 5 1/4' speakers
JBL GTO936 6X9' speakers
Kenwood KAC-8401 4ch amp

Isn't going to make a difference if the amplifier isn't powerful enough, that's what the gain is for. If you want it louder, then get either more efficient speakers or a more powerful amp, or both.

Remember when Jonathan said "that's what the gain is for", he didn't mean to sound like it's a volume control. So don't misunderstand it.

If you want it louder, you should probably be going components. I think anyway.

I meant to say head unit, not amplifier. Just noticed that. I can't think of a head unit out there that is so weak that it couldn't be compensated for with proper gain setting. Like Isaac said, it isn't a volume control, it is for level matching.
