I am putting in a dvd player / stereo in my 1999 Cadillac Deville. My goal is to get a good combination of sound quality and loudness. Comments / recomendations would be appreciated.
This is my plan so far ... HU - Alpine IVA-D901 Speakers - Infinity Kappa perfect 6.1 in the front and Kappa 693.7i in the back. Amp - infinity speakers powered with a JL 300/4 Sub - 1 JL13w7 in a sealed box (ProWedge) Sub Amp - JL 1000/1 I am also probably going to get a 3 Farad Capicitor.
Any recomended changes? Would I maybe need a new alternator? Would the 300/4 amp match well with the Infinity speakers, or would a 450/4 be better (or to much power) etc. I'm all ears ...
That seccond battery will just put extra strain on your altnerator. Try the 3 or 4 farad cap (1 farad for every 1k watts) and see what that does. Only go the aux battery route if you plan to listen to music with the engine off.
