Hi,
I was planning on getting a sub/amp system for my car.

Currently I am thinking:
2 Alpine Type-R 12" 2ohm DVC
Alpine MRD-M1005 Amplifier
Q-logic dual sub sealed/ported enclosure

Is the M1005 powerful enough to really get great sound out of the two 2005 Type-R's?
The type R's are rated:
200-500W RMS on Crutchfield
500W RMS on Alpine's USA Site
but I have also heard that it is 500w per coil, RMS 500-1000 watts total.

Anyone have any comments or suggestions? I'd love to hear em. I was planning on getting one amp to hook up the two 2ohm DVC subs getting a 2 ohm load, however I have not purchased anything so i can entertain getting the 4ohm DVC and two amps if the price is still resonable.

My price range is basically $800USD, but i'd like to keep it down as much as possible.. spending less then 400 on the amp, 130~ per sub , 100 on the box, 70~ on wiring. The more money i have left over the more I have to upgrade my headunit and get an amp for my speakers.

Thanks

Alpine SPS-170A Back Speakers
Alpine SPS-130A Front Speakers
Kenwood KDC-419 Headunit

Rockford Fosgate BD1001 would work. It will give you 1000 watts at 2 ohms.

On the Rockford Fosgate website it states

Power T10001bd Specifications:
500 W x 1 @ 4 Ohms RMS
750 W x 1 @ 2 Ohms RMS
1000 W x 1 @ 1 Ohms RMS

They say at 2 ohms it only puts out 750watts. Is this at 12volts or 14.4volts? I could of course just get two 4ohm DVC and wire it do there is a 1ohm load.

Anyway..

MRD-M1005 Specifications:

RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
* Per channel into 2 ohms : 700W x 1
* Per channel into 4 ohms : 500W x 1

RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
* Per channel into 2 ohms : 1000W x 1 (1% THD)

Wiring the two subs in parralel and the voice coils in series would produce a 2ohm load, and get me that 1000 watts.

Is 1000 watts enough, or is that just the bare minimum for two of the new (2005) 12" Type R's 1242D / 1222D ?

Thanks
