hey guys i need some help.i have 500 bucks and i want to be the louder car around.i have the trunk of a honda civic 01 and a jl 1000-1amp to do so.i dont know wether to pick 2 12 subs or 1 15 sub.could you tell me which would work best and furthermore what subs brand should i pick? p.d im planning on buying another amp in about 2 months so i wouldnt care if the subs have a little more power than the amp. thanks
RE's x.x.x, 1600 watts rms, but will work fine with 1000 watt's. Alpine type X, 1000 watts rms. Adire brhama, 1600 watts rms, but it will also work fine with 1000 watt's. Have you thought about a w7, or 2 w6v2's?
how about a 15 inch eclipse Ti with a huge ported box

how about an Avalanche 18 inch Subwoofer? will this sound LOUD!!!?and would this be a smart choice?i mean because of the amp i have.i repeat i want it to sound really loud. i know a guy who runs 2 15 inch w7 and i dont want to be completely erased.which sounds louder a 15 inch w7 or a 18 inch avalanche with a jl 1000
Are you sure 18" will fit in your trunk? I mean civic isn't a full sized car to start with. I have Acura and 18" barely fits. It is a sealed box too. You might be better off with JL Audio 10W7-3 and a well designed box. Do you have upgraded electrical system in your car? JL 1000 will eat up lot of current. If it doesn't get the needed power, then no matter what subs you get, it reach the maximum potential. Just curious, why would a girl want a system that loud? Never really seen females into loud music so far.
if i EVER fing a semi hot one, with a system louder then mine, i will sweep her off her feet, kick her in the stomache and take her system. jk. i would marry her and we will live happily ever after. unhhhh.
Hunter I think she'll kick you in the nutz and take your system. Good luck finding one. That's as hard as finding a good female mechanic in swim suit.

i dont know but i will manage to fit the specs, because i dont have an adittional tire, so this space its meant for subs and with proper fiberglass id manage to use it.i just want u to tell me if this sub its better than most ones in spl and if it have good sq. i live in colombia and a car audio competition its coming to my city, so i will have to battle some good cars. the only problem its the electhrical power. i have an extra battery in the trunk (optima yellow top)just for the subs.and if necessary i will buy another one in the near future. please help me.

I'm more into sound quality so I'd pick JL Audio 10W7-3 sub. If you get 2 of those in a ported box (exact spec to manufacturer's box size), it should be enough to beat out most if not all. Because JL amps have regulated power, your yellow top battery will do. On amps like Orion 275G4, HO alternator will make it produce over 1500w rms. How is the extra battery in the trunk wired? Do you have some sort of isolator? Orion MBR 70 is the one I have. It'll let you attach 2 extra batteries and use it to power the amps without draining your starter battery.
One more thing, spend extra time in box design. It'll make all the difference in SPL competition. Also can you post pictures of the competition after it's over?

to make everything clear, i took off everything in my car trunk including the tire and i aint buying a box to the sub, because i will manage to use all the space in the trunk with no specific form but the form of the trunk (ill use fiber-glass), i dont know if i make miself clear. dont worry about the space cause ill find it i just want to know which one have the best spl with a decent sq.i want to erase everyone around.which is the best 1600 brahma(15 inch) or 800(18 inch) avalanche to go with my jl amp?.or another one?

ill post pictures of the competition and my car but please i just want to erase a jl w7 of 12,13 or 15 sub i dont know the sizE but its bigger than 12.since its powered by a jl amp like mine i think that with a good bass i can erase it. as far as ive seen in this forum i think brahma15 and atlas18 are the best ones, but i dont know if theres any bass that fits me more or which one of them souns louder because one is bigger but have less rms..I JUST WANT TO ERASE A W7!!!
They're both great subs, but I guess for your situation, Avalanche will be better for SPL.

i dont want to be boring, but how rms affect sound?i really am a rookie so i want to know this because i see that the magnet in the brahma 15 looks way bigger than the 18.so the avalanche18 its bigger but have less rms (800 compare to 1600 of the brahma)and a smaller magnet(as far as i can see in the pictures). so knowing all this which one sounds louder, better and its hear in the distance. i admit that i dont understand it very well so i thank you guys for the help you are giving me because i know how annoying i can be as a product of my lack of knowledge.p.d sorry because i dont speak english very well either.
Colombian girl, don't get fooled by magnet size. Subs are much more complicated and that alone won't do much. What kind of bass are you looking for? 18" subs are great for very low bass, 20Hz - 35Hz. 12"-15" are great for 35Hz - 60Hz. The low bass, below 35Hz can be heard far away but at close, it won't seem very loud. Quite the opposite of 60Hz-80Hz, which will sound very loud close range. For SPL competition, SQ isn't that important so have you looked at RE X.X.X. sub in ported design? When comparing subs with very similar spec, look for one with higher sensitivity db number. It'll produce louder and more powerful bass with same amount of power compared to lower numbered one. I've seen subs with sensitivity level of 99db. They are very loud, but not very pratical in everyday use.
Well, you are thinking of getting another amp, and a RE MT is one of the best spl subs out there. You could always go with a l7 as well, but I don't really recomend them that often.
