Hello, I installed car stereos several years back for about 3 years. I know have an Alpine CD player with Direct connect XM, I have a 4 channel and 2 channel amp. I have seperates up front. My problem is one that noone has been able to help me with. When I turn my volume up or down, I hear a popping sound that sounds like a bad ground. (When plugging in RCAs, I plug one in and as I'm plugging in the other, I get lots of static then it goes away after plugged.) However, I have regrounded my Dodge Ram and have checked every speaker wire, and also have checked both sets of RCA's. I have also grounded my stereo to the same place my amps are grounded. I still have this popping noise. These amps worked fine in previous cars. Is there anything I could check. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

This is definitely a problem with the headunit itself...maybe something you'll have to take in for repair, although, it does sound like the analog potentiometer(for the volume)went out...

Try a ground loop isolator.
