What happens is this: After the car has been sitting for a while(with the ignition off) the internal amp stops working on this headunit! All of the RCA inputs and outputs continue working, though!
What I think is happening is a problem with the power.
This is one of the only headunits i've seen that has four total wires used to power the unit up. A ground wire, the ignition wire, and two wires that have to be wired directly to the battery(according to the installation manual). One of them is quite thick, also. What I did basically, was wire both of the battery power wires together and ran them from a fuse on the fuseblock. Ignition to ignition, ground to ground etc.Do I need to wire them directly to the battery, and if I do, can I still combine them into one wire?
I have had this same setup for over a year, minus the recently bought receiver-which I bought used and has worked perfectly for about a week until now.
The only thing I have found effective is to unplug the wiring harness completely for around two hours and then plug the unit in again causing it to function flawlessly until the car has to sit with the ignition off again.
Is this a wiring problem, or is the unit itself malfunctioning?
That's the thing, i'm not playing it with the car off. I never play it with the car turned off because I don't want to run the battery down with the amplifiers I have hooked up.
you are most like ly wired wrong you should try seperateing the two wires going from your batery becase the thicker one should be carrying more current then the smaller one try this and if you still got problems try notifying clarion.
Thanks for your replies...I rewired it and am still having the same problem. I'm guessing there is a loose connection in there or a bad part. I'm going to take it to a repair center tomorrow and hopefully they can figure out what is wrong with it.
