Speakers cut out - especially when I turn the steering wheel

I have a 97 Lumina with factory speakers. I have an aftermarket Panasonic CD player that has worked fine for years. My speakers began cutting out about a month ago, only at mid-to-high volume and when I turned the steering wheel to the left. It has gotten worse and now my speakers crackle or go silent unless the wheel is turned to the right. What could be going on?

prob lose or bad connection, a friend had the same problem, every time he'd decellerate, his front speakers would fade out, and when he'd accelerate they'd come back, his connectors weren't crimped tight enough. but the second part...idk...do you have steering mounted controls or anything??

Thanks for your reply. I finally gave up and had the system bench tested. The problem was a bad wire in one of the rear speakers that was touching metal and grounding out the system. Once I replaced the rear speakers, everything worked great.
