I bought a IDQ 10" V.3 D2 and Soundstream EGA1000.4X I was advised to purchase the dual 2 ohm sub so I could wire it to 4 ohm. Can anyone explain how to do that? The Soundstream is also pushing my Perfect6.1's, does that make any difference? Thanks for your help in advance, David.
Isaac? Jonathon? I just want some gound sound quality because I mostly listen to metal music but I also listen to some rap and southern rock. Thanks again for you help in advance, David.
Use a deck with 4 channel (FL, FR, RL, and RR) RCA outputs for this setup. Connect all 4 RCA outputs from your deck to your amp. Connect FL to channel 1, FR to channel 2, RL to channel 3, and RR to channel 4.
Connect the Infinity 6.1 mids and highs to the Front Left and Front Right channels (1 and 2) on your amp. Make sure you have a good crossover to protect your tweeter and mid/bass driver.
Wire your subwoofer in series like Donald Byrum Jr explained in the schematic above.
Now connect the + from the sub to the + on RL (channel 3) on your amp. Then connect the -- from your sub to the + on RR (channel 4) on your amp. Note: you are utilizing only the + terminals from channel 3 and 4. This will bridge channels 3 and 4 to give you more power to the sub.
This setup will allow you to keep your bass and treble levels the same, while you may use your front to rear fader as a volume control between your mids and highs, and your sub. This is a good feature when going from metal and southern rock to rap.
My deck is an Alpine 9813 and the only wires I see coming out the back at Sub W, Front and Rear. They are all two pronged with red and white plugs. Is that what you are talking about?> I am really new to all of this, and I don't want to screw up, but I wish to do it myself. Thank you for your help.
