I am new at this, is it okay to run only components? Or should I have components in the front and 6X9's back?

if you have some good components and you are giving them enough power, then thats all you should need. if you are not running subs, you might want the 6.9's in the rear for the extra sound. if you can, cut out the highs for the rear so its not distracting

yeah, no need for rear speakers, especially if you have a sub. some people like having rear speakers, but it would be the last thing i would upgrade. get yourself a good set of comps for the front, then a sub, and then, if you want, some rear speakers.

get this amp: http://www.cardomain.com/item/MTX342
and a set of infinity 6000cs components http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32819%26item%3D5758004082 %26

good starting point. later on add a sub and a sub amp. or you can spend a little more on an amp now, get a 4 channel that does 75 or 100 watts RMS per channel and later on when you add a sub you can just bridge the rear channels of your 4 channel amp to power it and you wont have to buy another amp.

that would sound much better than 4 speakers powered by the head unit.

CDT's are good speakers. check out these. they're like $300 CDTs that are marked down b/c the color of the basket was the wrong shade. nothing wrong with them except for that.
they cost more than the infinity references, but they are an excellent deal for $150 and would probably sound much better than the references. many people have different opinions on which speakers sound the best. everyone's ear prefers a different sound, so it's best if you can go to a local car audio shop and audition them. they'll sound much better than stock speakers though :-)

check out the amp i recommended earlier in this thread. mtx makes good amps for the price. soundstream makes some decent amps for the price also. to power those components you'll need something that does 75 to 100 watts per channel @ 4ohms.

here's a good reference point for looking at what brands are good. the guys at caraudiocentral.net are extremely knowledgeable and have put together an excellent FAQ section..
