anyone have experience with this model...or a similar one???

it looks really cool...touchscreen controls, fully blacks out for theft 'protection' lots of nice colors and options. and it doesn't look like all the other gaudy silver disgusting headunits out there.

here's a link.
http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=F &storeId=11251&catalogId=11005&itemId=63217&catGroupId=11085&modelNo=CQ-HX1083U& surfModel=CQ-HX1083U

what do you think???
anyone have a bad experience with this?

thanks!

really? looking at reviews i haven't seen many problems with it.

is that just panasonic in general, or just this headunit?

i have a panasonic discman...it's been dropped, and tortured, and frozen and it still works like the day i got it.

thanks.

look at long term owner reviews of both car and home audio equipment on web forums.
It's Panasonic in general. They skimp on build quality to cut prices to compete in the market.

i have to agree with Glasswolf on the panasonic opinions here... sorry to say. Plus I have installed this particular HU a couple times and the customers have usually been back because of poor sensitivity of the touch screen.

p.s. normally i'm a registered user, but I'm having account problems today. :-)

re-register.
mine got deleted, too.
lost my 1320 reg'ed posts, after the last time I lost probably a solid 500 posts when this happened the first time, and lost gold status.
it's still me though.

people are still welcome to comment on the panasonic.. I gave my two cents.
nice features, not reliable enough to make me comfortable.

I have this unit (it was installed in the used car I bought). After having it a few months now, I think its an excellent head unit. It has high quality sound and very good controls. The only complaint I have is that the display is not very bright in bright sunlight. Other than that, I think its a great unit.

I've seen it. It's all looks to say the least. But I really can't see how people can say it has good sound quality. It's not like the HU itself is producing the sound. It's all a mixture of the HU, the amp and the speakers. So when you say it's got good sound quality, it could just be because of the amp and speaker it's running.

Some Clarion HUs can be set to positive or negative display to allow better contrast for the HUs under bright sunlight
