what are the positives to switching it to a quad voice coil? disadvantages?

all quad-coils are really good for is wiring configuations.

or to sling 4 amps on a single MT18 for a comp...2 amps bridged to a pair of coils and 2 more to the other coils...lol (but thats a comp thing...hehehe)

yeh but i heard(dont know if its true) that having quad voice coils in a comp that they judgeyou as if you had 2 subs.
