Peak doesn't mean anything. The number you are really getting is the rms rating. It also has to do with the ohms you are running.

I mean I want all 1600 watts powering my speaker, but how can you tell if all watts are powering it or not?

welll you are not going to get 1600 watts from that am nor are you going to get 800 watts from that amp. realistically you can get prob around 400 true watts out of that amp. it is very very over rated.

i had that amp, i sold it to hunter, i beleive on the birthsheet it put out like 763 at 4 ohms...and you wouldn't want to send 1600 watts to an L7....you'll break it in seconds...subs arent made to handle more then there RMS rating for extended periods of time...i suggest you read up at www.bcae1.com and get some more knowledge about subs and systems and whatnot...its actually interesting reading...

well what speakers are you planning on running with the amp? I need to know specs, how many voice coils and what their configuration of each is(ohms)

lol, beginners mistake, its ok though. You never get peak plus Jeff is right 1600 watts would be way too much anyway for that sub. Is it a dual 2 ohm sub or dual 4 ohm? Also, who installed it for you? You could have one individual channel hooked up to its own voice coil, or your amp could be bridged.
