New member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 8 Registered: Mar-05 | i got a used new one and it says 4ohm on the side this means its the dvc 4ohm sub right? just checkin so i dont blow my amp up. |
Silver Member Username: Taylor17Kopperl, Texas Post Number: 844 Registered: Jan-05 | Usually they will say if they are dvc or not. What is the mottle number of you're sub's? |
Gold Member Username: InvainMichigan United States Post Number: 1383 Registered: Aug-04 | Well, you should be able to tell if it's a dvc or svc... just look at the stinkin' think. How many voice coil's does it have? There should be a pair hookups on each side. |
New member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 9 Registered: Mar-05 | im asking if the numer 4 then the "ohm" sign written on the side of the sub means its 4 ohm. i found out that this is infact what determins the 2ohm from the 4ohm. and i know its dvc already, guess i didnt make that clear enough. also the way i have it wired up (if it is a dvc 4ohm) it runs at 2 ohms and it doesnt hit near as hard as i thought. could it be b/c im not giving it enough power? i have 1 12'' new L7 with a kx600 kicker amp. in a 1 cu-ft sealed box. |
Gold Member Username: InvainMichigan United States Post Number: 1387 Registered: Aug-04 | Yes, each voice coil is 4 ohms. |
Silver Member Username: Addicted2bassMiami, FLORIDA USA Post Number: 244 Registered: Nov-04 | yeh that means that it is a 4 ohm dvc. BUt a reason about the sub not hitting hard, is becasue becasue since youre enclosure is so small its going to take more than 600-650 to get that sub to full potential. Because im assuming that it's 1 cu ft.net, so after sub displacement youre looking at about .75 cu ft. for the sub which is kind of small for that sub with only 600 watts |
New member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 10 Registered: Mar-05 | damn, i have a mustang so trunk space is small. i found a buyer for my sub and im debaiting getting 2 ED 11.Kv.2 in a ported box. i think that should hit louder and a LOT cleaner. would that amp be enough power for those? |
Bronze Member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 11 Registered: Mar-05 | also could it be b/c the box i got is also 5/8 mdf apposed to 3/4? |
Silver Member Username: Addicted2bassMiami, FLORIDA USA Post Number: 251 Registered: Nov-04 | yeh that would hit a sh!tload cleaner but i think the spl should be a little better of the ed's becasue youre going ported, but the amp should be perfect for those subs |
Silver Member Username: Taylor17Kopperl, Texas Post Number: 857 Registered: Jan-05 | That should work fine! |
Bronze Member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 12 Registered: Mar-05 | awsome, only other option would be buying a new box... i went sealed cuz L7's are known for having horrible SQ.. so i could grab one of these 12'' ported box w/ 1.8 cuft: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50568%26item%3D5757079809 %26 or would a slightly bigger sealed box(i only have found 1.2cu-ft for a square sub) box make enough diff. to be worth spending the $$? ... any suggestions would be awsome, i wanted to keep the l7 a little bit longer(seeing how i just got it) then upgrading to the ED set up. but if this sub is going to suck this bad then no thanks! |
Bronze Member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 13 Registered: Mar-05 | anyone with sugestions? please..lol |
Silver Member Username: JmloughreyFarmington, CT Post Number: 974 Registered: Jul-04 | dude, just build a box, you can use your own dimentions, its a heck of alot cheaper...and kinda fun as well...... on a side note, i'm sick of this sites "parental filters"....we arent 4 anymore...stop holding my hand |

Silver Member Username: CoryCanada Post Number: 139 Registered: Jan-05 | for 2 10's yeah. Probably enough spl there to make your ears bleed |
john deere Unregistered guest | how do 10's sound compared to 12's? Say the tens are ported and the twelves are sealed. |
Bronze Member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 14 Registered: Mar-05 | my 1 12 l7 isnt much in a sealed box 1 cuft w/ 1lb of pollyfill. i have 600w going to it... eh |
Bronze Member Username: AlpineuserPost Number: 36 Registered: Mar-05 | 140.6 wont make your ears bleed..i road 6 hours in a truck with 4 15s hitting 149.3 with the windows up and i didnt bleed much |
urgsiter432d Unregistered guest | well 2 10's hitting 140 compared to 4 15's hitting 149. Thats really good for the 10's. |
Bronze Member Username: AlpineuserPost Number: 39 Registered: Mar-05 | yea i wasnt saying anything about the 10s just the ear bleeding..and the 15s only had 200watts each |
Silver Member Username: Taylor17Kopperl, Texas Post Number: 878 Registered: Jan-05 | It may not sound like much, but 9 Db's is a crap load more. That's a big difference! |
rah g 34 Unregistered guest | yea almost twice as loud but the surface area between 2 10's and 4 15's ;) |

Bronze Member Username: WilliamcPost Number: 19 Registered: Mar-05 | if i have a 1 cuft box and i fill it with 1.lb of pollyfill... it will be rubbing on the sub. is that bad? i took out like 1/3 of the fill so it didnt hit. any one know? |
