for example, a/d/s once made some of the best components on the planet. their speakers from the early 80s still are considered up there with almost anything you can buy now. even a/d/s couldn't top their own design.
nowadays, a/d/s wouldn't make the list because their product isn't currently as good as it was - ever since the company changed ownership.
