I bought my girlfriend an RCA Lyra for Christmas. Last year I bought her a CD/MP3 player & a cassette adapter, but the tape deck in the car keeps thinking the tape is broken & spits it out. I tried an FM modulator, but it may have been too cheap & the sound quality sucks & it fades in & out.
I saw this

& was wondering what people think.
The reason & don't just put in a head unit is that it's a '97 Bonneville with sterring wheel controls & she really like that.

I think you will run into the same problem you have now, poor SQ. I would go with an after market deck and tie it into the steering wheel controls.

www.pac-audio.com

They make adapters to tie the sterring wheel controls into almost all aftermarket decks.
