Saw an auction for 2 caps. 1) 1.4 farad for subs and 1) .18 farad for the HU. Whatdya think? There much to gain from a smaller cap for the HU? Anyone ever done this? If so, what was the result? My Alpine does push max 60w. so that's a total of 240w, and yes, I do listen to my stereo at high volumes frequently.

Hey Tim, unless you're powering the subs with the HU, I don't see any benefit. How much are they charging anyways? When you say 60W from your HU, are you talking rms power? If not, it's a waste of money. Besides, if you were going to buy a cap, why not buy 1F instead?

your alpine is 27 watts RMS x 4
60 watts is a max rating, and pointless to use for anything.
that head unit should have a 10ga line directly to the battery for power.
no need for a capacitor for anything but high current amplifiers. using one for a head unit is pointless. that head unit can't draw more than about 15A of current at full output anyway.
