Does the bass level knob bypass the gain on the amp?

What I'm asking is, if I set the gain all the way up on the amp and then have the bass knob at like half way, what is the gain set at? All the way or halfway?

the gain setting on your amp is strictly there to balance the input stage of the amp to the line voltage of your pre-outs.
never set the gain on the amp to full.
at most, usually it'll be about half way up. you should set gains properly to be honest, following the guides on www.bcae1.com

the bass knob on your radio, or any remote bass level knobs the amp comes with are strictly EQ type adjustments that add or cut bass by usually 3 ro 6dB at a fixed frequency between 40 and 100Hz.

totally different purposes.
set gain one time and leave it set properly.
use remote bass level or the bass knob on the stereo to vary bass output for a particular song.
