Is hacking my back (about 4in) speakers worth it to fit larger woofers, putting smaller mids in the 6.5 spot & tweet components or use the itty bitty (about 4in) stock size backs to brighten up the subs, 6.5 in front & tweet components?

Go to that thread about three down "What are the advantages of 3 way vs. 2 way component". I would say NO and to go buy a sub.

my bad, you said you have a sub. definately no because the larger mid is not is an enclosure. it's much different than a home audio 3 way in a nice enclosure. others will agree.
