Why no rear speakers?

i have been reading through the posts and i see a lot of advice to not have any speakers in the back. i have an extened cab f150. i took the back seat out and put 4 12" kicker comp vr subs and 2 RF 6x9s in its place. i have 5.25" speakers in the front doors (which i will be upgrading to 6.5" as soon as i figure out how to). is there a reason that i should get rid of the rear speakers? or even turn them down? i dont understand the logic behind this. can someone please explain?
