Help me clear something here, DVI is suppose to be new great thing because it allows digital feeds to be sent directly, which makes it ideal for interacting with HD Receivers/Televisions and so forth--right?

The data comes to my house in the forms of Coaxial (Basic and Extended Channels) and Ethernet (High Def-Channels).

The data is broken down, transmitted, received then reassembled with a max of a 3 second delay on prerecorded television and a max of 20 second delay on live television with superior quality than DVI.

What is the need for DVI, S-video and component when Coaxial and Ethernet 1/2 yield better results?

Am I simply forced to have to rely on inferior cables to do what is needed because Sony or Thompson's had some backwater deal with the international standardizing forum?

It shouldn't be that hard to incorporate a piece of hardware that converts data into video. Computers and dishes have been doing it for 35 years.
