Ok, so currently i have an aftermarket alpine deck, and a kenwood KAC-(somthing) which pushes 500Wx2ohm, and 300wx4 ohm. (rms of course.) Now i used have an ancient BLAUPUNKT sub with a ported box. I threw the sub out but kept the box. The box's volume is approx 1.29ft cubed (w/o port volume) and it has dual cardboard ports 9 inches long 3 inches in diameter. Can i put an alpine type r 10 inch in the box and just cut a port out and thus tune it to ~ 34 hz? or am i missing a step somewhere?

Dual cardboard ports FTW easy 150db right there!

Just build a new box or buy a pre-fab one if your serious.

Your box is tuned to about 51 hz right now. There is now way you you can have enough port area and be tuned to 34 hz. Time to build a new box.

Using a pos box like that will make your sub sounds like crap, garenteed.... on the other hand getting a good box or making one can make it sounds good. The box has more effect than the speaker in it, remember that.
