I am getting a new system for my birthday, but there is a big draw back. I MUST buy locally. I went around w/ my parents getting prices and came up with a few what are in my price range.

A) 2 Alpine R 12's, alpine 1000w (not the expensive one)

B) 2 Memphis M3 12's, memphis 1000w (cheaper 1000w)

C) 2 Mtx thunder 12's (500w) and thunderX 1000w

D) 2 Digital design 750w 12's and 1200w amp, the amp has a knob w/ a light?

E) 1 Kicker Solo 15 and 750w kicker amp, place said it was like 900w though.

F) 2 rockford 500w 12's and 1000w punch amp

My friend has a kicker solo 12 and its loud, but my other friend has some competitions and they smoked in like 3 months. The rockfords are the most expensive. I saw people talking about the Digital Designs on this forum (i have been a lurker), never heard of them other than that though.

I listen to a little of everything mainly rap, but want my tahoe to be louder than this guy w/ 4 kicker competition 12's at my school. They are in his crown vic on like 1000w.

what would you pick?

You must be talking about the 2500 series

For the kind of power you want to run you might want to go with the 1500 series if it is available. It would be a better fit for your power imo

That is just a 500w sub though. Wouldn't the 1200w amp be too much?

Both audioque and digital designs overbuild their subs. So if you were powering 2 subs you would be overpowering each sub by only 100 watts. As long as you are careful with your gain and bass boost(not recommended) you should be ok.

Otherwise in my opinion you are on the low end of the power requirments for the 2500 series

Does this forum mess freeze up?
It just went nuts for a second.

Anyways. The 500w subs and 1200w amp would be cheapest.

The guy at the shop said a 5feet box would slam with the 750w subs. It was $225, would the same box work with the 500w ones?

explain to them that the products you can get online are much better than the ones you can get in the store. most car audio shops only carry a few main stream brands. you can get a much better sub online through companies like Fi Re and Audioque to name a few, for the same, or even less money.

They don't care, say they have to see them before they buy. We went to a few shops.

Does DD makes boxes to?
The shop said they were going to build it for my tahoe. Said it would be with the subs to the ceiling and a big port to the bumper.

I would go with the shop selling the DD stuff. They are more likely to know what they're doing than your average dumbazz local shop, if they carry DD.

do any of the dealers around you sell diamond audio? if so D3 and D6 are pretty good subs, very clean sounding, the D3s are a very clean looking sub IMO. get 15s too, you have the space. heres the link to the 12s

alpine 1Kw amp
single Type R 15" sub.
go with a large ported, or 4th order bandpass enclosure.
If you're not as concerned with really deep bass, and just want it to be louder than anything your friends have, go 6th order BP enclosure.

that's the best solution of anything listed above.
