Sony XR-6287 Cassette deck setup

I have a 1978 Chevy Chevette and I want to put a Sony XR-6287 cassette deck in it and i tried to but no sound comes out of my speakers the green leds in it light up but nothing else happens can someone help me out with this? Thanks
