powerbass? not bad, but theres still definatley better....
another question, what type of system are you trying to put together

SPL....gets loud, but not very good as far as sound quality

SQ....Sound Quality is best, but doesnt get as loud as SPL

SQL...combination of both SPL and SQ

and to be honest, some of the best subs I've heard are the DD's....talk to Canaan about them.

They are used alot for SPL, but when tuned for daily sound very nice.

Mini,
What is you full budget (amps, subs, batts, alt, wire, hu, etc)?

What systems have you heard that you liked?

What vehicle?

If you want 3 12's that you can get for less than $600 each. Try the DD3500's...that is if you have the $ for a huge electrical upgrade and 4000wrms+.

If you don't want to spend a huge amount on power and electrical, try DD2512's.
Something like a DDM3 would work great on 3 or those...the M3 is pretty efficient.

W/ the M3, you could just upgrade your alt to ~200a, replace your stock batt, and add something like a Kinetik HC2400 right at the amp.

Just get a toolbox or hard tonneau cover and mount the amps/batts in the bed.

There are alot of subs out there that will get the job done for you. Look into RE, RD, Fi, DD, AA, DC, and etc. You can get amazing performance out of these brands for relatively low cost. (When compared to MSRP of mainstream brands)

Also, when you mount 2 subs inverse and 1 normal.
Wire the 2 inverse subs out of phase w/ the normal sub.

When you get ready for a box...get ahold of me.
I'll help you out w/ a nice daily ground pounder.
