I've had my Alpine CDA-9851 head unit for about 2 1/2 yrs now and it just started doing something really weird. My front passenger speaker sporadically gets quieter than the rest. It's not like a loose wire because it doesn't go completely off. It usually happens when I go over a bump or around a turn hard but not always. If I turn the unit off then back on again it works normal for a little while then starts again. Doesn't matter if it's hot or cold. Any ideas?

yea in the main harness you could have a loose wire in the main connector. also u could have the speaker screwed in too tight and it grounds out on the car body when u hit a bump i had it happen a few times just loosen the speaker or put hot glue over the speaker terminals for insulation. other then that it could be the radios internal amp going.

Thanks. I found the problem. The connection going into my car's factory amp is going bad. I fixed it for the time being but I'm sure it'll go bad again.

try soldering, it might help it last longer for you.
