I see there have been a few similar queries, but nothing that answers my problem...
I recently bought a second hand VW Golf SE and the remote central locking was all in working order. Unfortuantely it is now only opening the drivers door and boot, and even worse the car no longer starts!
I have rang the VW garage and they believe that the central locking problem and the engine failing are probably related but cannot advise until I take it in - which is impossible as it is stuck in my drive way!
I have read the manual and it talks about turning the key in the lock twice in succession - no joy. I've tried pressing the central locking button twice in a row - no luck. When I put the key in the ignition, the dash board lights up, but it doesn't turn over, and then the mile counter strats ticking rather bizarly.
