Hey guys, I think I want to purchase this Kenwood amp: 2006 KENWOOD KAC-9102D 1700W MONO
I am searching for a sub and I heard Kicker was a great brand. I saw this kicker: KICKER SOLOBARIC S12L7 L7 12".
The kenwood is 1700watt/ 850 rms @ 2-ohm, while the Kicker sub is 1500watt/ 750 rms. Is this a good match? Also, the Kicker has a 88.84 db while the kenwood has 93db, and I heard that I should try to match these numbers as closely as possible. Will this work? Thanks

that amp is overrated
get a kicker zx750.1. that will do ya nicely for the l7 but mind you that is will sound bad. it is a spl sub so it will be loud though. if you want something that will sound better get a soundsplinter rl-p

Kyle, sorry I do not understand what you mean by spl/rl-p. I came across the zx750.1 right b4 I saw your post and was going to ask about it. Im guessing spl means squared and rl-p means round. If so, does all round subs sound better than squareds?

spl means Sound pressure level. Meaning how loud it gets. The rl-p is a type of sub you can find it here. www.soundsplinter.com

rl-p is a sub made by soundsplinter...nice sub

spl stands for sound pressure level which simply means, pure loudness with little sound quality
sql is a mix of both sound quality and spl....gets loud and stays clean
sq is sound quality...cant describe that one anymore

I looked around for subs with "sound quality" and they seem too expensive. Can anyone tell me what they think about this set up:

Amp-Rockford Fosgate Punch P6001bd
325 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

Sub- 12" Rockford Fosgate P312D4
power range: 100-500 watts RMS (250 watts per coil)
peak power handling: 1,000 watts

$450 for the sub and amp?

Also, what are you looking for out of this setup? Do you want sound quality or do you want extreme output, or a little of both?

im thinking 450 for both.....im just saying that because thats what i come up with when I price things on ebay. I search for things at crutchfield or best uy then look for them on ebay. You can recommend amps/subs that total near $500-550 range. And Im thinking about output and quality, but willing to sacrafice a little quality for the money. Would rather have just one sub as well....thanks again

Thats a pretty tight budget but I think you could swing a 15" Fi SSD (or 12" if you have space issues). And for the amp to stay within that price range I would maybe go with the Memphis 16-PRD1000.1. Don't forget you are going to need a quality (preferably homemade) box and wiring...

And here is a couple sites to help you kick the Crutchfield/Worst Buy habit:

No. And especially in that bandpass box....it would sound like utter sh!t. The ones listed above are in a whole different league than those.

kris do a little more research but don't use best buy as your source for info. they don't carry anything that is worth it.

also up your budget a bit more and get something good. that way you won't think about upgrading.
