i just bought two alpine 1221D 12" type R subs. im looking for an amp to power these. the speakers have a max 1000W and RMS at 300. Someone told me to go and buy a mono amp but im clueless and i am looking for some advice. so please help
if you want a sturdy mono amp that can push your sub at 1 ohm (your dual coils in parallel), then a good choice is the Kenwood KAC 8151D- 500watts rms at 1ohm. If you want your subs at max handling and you want to go with any mono amp, 1 ohm stable or not, you will need 2 amps. You can however buy a 1ohm stable 2 channel amp, but I can only point you at amps I have not test-drove. Try JL, Kenwood and Rockford Fosgate. All three make overly powerful amps that are usually 1 ohm stable.
