hi, im going to be getting an Alpine SWR-1242D - Alpine 12" Type R in a few days. but i need a box. and i sort of want to build my box soon, so i dont have to build it after i get my sub. i know i want it to be ported, but i have no idea how to build a box, and the measurements and stuff.

can someone show me a design and measurements for a good ported box, for my alpine?

get a type X they sound way nicer and almost just as loud i heard them both in comparison from one another the type R may be a little boomier but not by much the type X is worth it if its in the right box

just buy a prefab box if you aren't too clear about it.

Thats a cool site but how accurate is it?

a b, you can get all those specs from alpines site, here is a link to the owners manual.

I will help you, here are the specs you need:
Woofer Qts: .47
Woofer Vas: 1.6
Woofer Fs: 29

That site is actually pretty damn accurate. I used it to build my box for the SX 15". Tuned it to 35hz and on a TL meter my best score was at 45hz which is correct seeing the box peaks out normally 8-10hz higher than what it is tuned to.
