"I need a 2 channel."
Why do you "need" a 2 ch?
The best option IMO, and in many others' would be a class D mono amp that does around 1500w rms into 1 ohm.

You'd wire your subs like this:

Amps I'd look into --
Lanzar Opti2000D
HIfonics BXi1606D

it's no easier than a mono, less efficient, and for that much power probably more expensive.

but hey - who are we to make good recommendations???

A mono amp can hold that load ? how about the speakers there 4 ohms , can they come down to a 1 ohm load?

I would say the majority of class D mono amps are designed to perform best at 1 ohm - some at 2 ohms.

CVX's are dual voice coil subs. If you have dual 4's - yes, a pair of them can be wired for 1 ohm.
That's what the pic ^^ is illustrating.

If you have dvc 2's wired for 4 ohms a piece then you want an amp that's around 1500w at 2 ohms or 1/2 ohm.

12's don't play hi's

class d amps are used in world-class SQ set ups -- I really don't think sounding bad in the highs will be a problem for you.

chauncey, sure they do - the switching of the outputs becomes audible above a few hundred hz. It's beside the point though - if 12's are playing a few hundred hz or higher that's a problem.

by sounding bad i mean like distortion . Is a class D amp like http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17036 going to make the subs sound bad ?

Optidriven,

So which "world-class" SQ set ups are using D class amps?
I am pretty sure that MOST "world-class" SQ set ups are using 2ch bridged for their subs:-)

robert i think you're pretty dumb! use one class D amp, they're for subs!!!!!! you can say they will sound bad if you're using one class D with some 6x9 speakers or tweeters, but not with subs!!!!!!!!!!

Robert just listen to these guys they know what they are talking about. The mono amp will be alot better for your subs wire them like that pic shows and you will be set, and they will slam for your ftriends. Its also more efficient.

Sorry, haven't done any show-to-show surveys. We both know they're out there. I didn't say MOST use them, I didn't even say a lot.

And some that DON'T use them will still tell you there's no audible difference in the sub frequencies.

My only point was there is no significant drawback in SQ by using class D vs. a/b.
Certainly not for Joe Blow trying to come up with a decent system for the DD.
