I already have steering wheel controls with the factory head unit I have now, so do I still need to buy an add on piece?

Help! what is the "pesswix piece from preiphael?" I was told today at audio king and again at another retailer that there is no way to use the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit.

Another question if anyone wants to chime in and help. I'm going to buy a pair of Polk Audio SR6500's components (unless I change my mind or someone can suggest something better that I can get for around the $450 that I can get them). What else do I need for a good setup. the car I am putting them in currently has some lower grade Alpine front and rear powered by an alpine MRF-320 amp, and a Jl audio 10" sub. If I put in the SR6500's, do I keep the rears or switch them out as well and how do you coordinate the sound of different speakers? I am really only looking for as good of SQ as I can get for my budget, and listen to alot of vocals, jazz, alternative. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
