Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 5943 Registered: May-04 | Focal Polyglass components aren't that great. Focals high end stuff is nice, low end stuff sucks. I'd save my money just a touch more and get those PG Ti Elite components-they're built and designed by Morel. Excellent components. |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 1997 Registered: Dec-05 | thanks johnathan .. what about boston ? do they have any sets nice under $300 ? |
Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 5944 Registered: May-04 | Boston sets are nice-the newer Pro50 components should suit you. I wouldn't go with anything lower from them personally, though. Bostons tend to have a characteristic sound the people either love or hate, if you have a nearby Tweeter, Hifi-Buys,or other subsidiary try to go listen to a set before you jump. Others in that price range worth considering are JL XRs and the MB Quart Premiums. |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 1999 Registered: Dec-05 | i figured the xr's would be nice .. but chad said he didnt like them .. but then again everyone has different tastes , i may love them |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 2001 Registered: Dec-05 | i was wanting to go with some jl xr's and maybe 2 12'' w3v3's .. would that be a nice setup for a single cab truck > |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 2003 Registered: Dec-05 | johnathan between the mb quarts and xr's which would be better ? |
Gold Member Username: BestmankindLos Angeles, CA USA Post Number: 3731 Registered: Oct-05 | casey if you want the xr's then i suggest you getting the 3 ways. i've heard the xr 3 ways and they sound much better and different then the xr 2 ways. that is if you know how to do a good job of installing. i wanted 3 ways one time and jonathan told me they are hard to setup so i would be better off with just the 2 way. |
Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 5947 Registered: May-04 | Vehicle dependant. 3 ways are more difficult to implement in certain vehicle types. Generally, if you can't/don't want to do kick panels, you'll probably do better with 2 ways. The XRs have a rather higher crossover frequency to the midrange from the midbass driver, for that reason you'll want to keep them close together. 3 ways are nicer if setup correctly, though. |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 2004 Registered: Dec-05 | so if im going to put them in the doors 2 ways are better ? |

Gold Member Username: Jonathan_fGA USA Post Number: 5948 Registered: May-04 | I posted that for somebody a while back Vifa makes great raw drivers-it'd be every bit as good as stuff costing much more than that. |
Gold Member Username: Southern_bassParis, Tennessee U.S. Post Number: 2006 Registered: Dec-05 | so they would sound just as nice as some jl xr's ? |
