A Buddy of mine that works at an audioshop told me that Bass Sweeps are one of the worst things you can play on your subwoofer b/c of the constant tone, and the amount of stress it puts on the sub.wouldn't playing any rap song have the same effect, and thus be just as bad?

is there any truth to this?

He didn't leave to smoke weed. He left so he could be himself.

"Being himself" goes deeper than just smokin herb, it just so happened smokin was one of the things he was unable to do as a player.

he could do that in the offseason, but no he decided to "be himself" in the middle of the season. Oh well . It doesn't matter now that he's back on the team. I'll let bygones be bygones.

theres no proof that weed makes you dull its a theory .. studies havnt been going on long enough to see if weed accually dulls you ... it doenst even kill brain cells it paralyzes your brain cells and as you become more sober your brain cells start regaining control

I can tell you from experience it messes with memory in the short term and its also hard on the lungs at least in the short term if you discontinue use It also effects motor skills...as I said this is from experience...something I no longer choose to do and havent for years now

test tones do tend to put more stress on speakers than music does just because the sinwave signal is a constant AC voltage.. the power levels don't vary constantly like with music, so you're essentially putting full power (at that volume) to the speaker, continuously.
That generates more heat across teh coils than music will, just because you have more constant power going to the coils.

much like testing an amplifier for power output, you'd use a signal generator with a constant AC signal, and a dummy load.
that way power output never wavers.

Now, running a few tones isn't going to kill your subs.. but I wouldn't play say, a 25Hz signal for extended periods just for fun.
