Too much?

Will 2 12" x>x>x's be too much bass for a small hatchback as a daily driver car even though i want it to pound when i need it to? (in a sealed box)

In a small hatch, 1 will be plenty! Especially with it being a hatch, does wonders for the SPL. 2 of them, if powerwed properly will be insane....but beiing sealed, and if you like insane....go for it. :-)

I would buy one and port it to 28hz, it will be as loud as two 12s sealed.

Will it still maintain sq as good or very close to 2 sealed ones?

Anon, if the box is built correctly it can have as good or better SQ than sealed. The X.X.X. not only awesome at acheiveing SPL but has good SQ. But a lot is dependent on the box.

Well RE gives dimensions on their site for a ported box tuned at 30hz...will that do that trick if I use their dimensions?

man, you can never have too much bass. if you can fit, port the two RE's. that ish will pound, especially in a little hatch. plus, you can always lower your volume knob. but trust me, once you have bass in your car, you probably won't lower your volume knob at all.
