I purchased a pioneer fb700t second hand and am going to install it on my xterra, thing is I dont have an amp for the door speakers (only the sub)

The headunit has RCA type connectors and the speakers are traditional speaker wire. Pioneers website claims this thing has 40watts x 4 channels, so Im assuming it has an internal amp to power the door speakers. Would I just need to convert the speaker wire to a RCA connector via something like this

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062472&numProdsPerPage=60 &retainProdsInSession=1

or do I need to do something else?

Thanks for an feedback =)

Is this the one?
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/GPS-Naviga tion-Systems/AVIC-F700BT

Read the install and owners manual:

You're missing the speaker harness if all you have is RCA jacks.

all the pioneer head unit has is the RCA jacks, basically I want to utilize the head unit amp to power my door speakers, the speakers are merely connected via speaker wire. I want to know if the head unit will power the speakers if I use the RCA jack adapters that I listed above.

The RCA outputs on the back of the head unit are used for sending an input signal to an external amplifier, not for the head unit's own built-in amplifier to power your door speakers.

If your unit is the AVIC-F700BT, and the only harness you have for it is the the one with RCA and video outputs, you need to get the harness for the power and speaker connections. Try looking on Ebay:

sorry wandaddy I do have the power connection harnass as well as the GPS harnass & microphone. I have all of what the instructions say is included in the box if it were new.

According to there website it says
Built in speaker power - MOSFET 50w x 4

the headunit only comes with RCA plugs, so how does one take advantage of the onboard amp?

No worries man. The wires for the harnesses should be labeled in the manual, so just connect them accordingly. There should be wires for positive/negative front right, front left, rear right, and rear left. If you have never installed a head unit before, try looking on Youtube for a good instructional video.
